The problem is, there isn't much on Oops, I Did It Again that's particularly riveting.
OOPS I DID IT AGAIN HOW TO
The beats that make up the core of Oops, I Did It Again are certainly top-notch- at this point, there's no question that Kidwell knows how to put together a song. Most of the sounds on the album have already been used hundreds of times- chopped-up drum samples, synthesizers with sweeping filters and the occasional odd bit of noise. And while the result is certainly well executed, it lacks the personality that makes Cex such an appealing character in the first place.įor the most part, Oops, I Did It Again is relatively standard IDM fare, with a much greater focus on rhythm than on melody. The Cex I hear on Oops, I Did It Again sounds like he's trying to incorporate a pretty wide spectrum of influences with the fun IDM that's been the bread and butter of his career this far. The Cex I saw in concert was a truly original entertainer, putting the best parts of his personality to work for him. So, in the interest of keeping it real, I'll say I'm pretty disappointed by Oops, I Did It Again. Playing equal parts mad rapper and welcoming host, Kidwell drops tight, witty, and endearing rhymes about balls, bicycles, and "Bad Dudes" over skittery beats, peppered with clever between-song banter ("This next song has some violins- an instrument invented by Radiohead"). But the true brilliance of Kidwell's show is that his whole act seems totally sincere. Lots of performers manipulate their onstage personas to make themselves appear more interesting or more mysterious.
Cex's live show has, in recent years, developed into one of the single most entertaining spectacles I've ever experienced. That wasn't the only challenge the princess of pop faced during the making of that video. She had a very intense day, to say the least."
"After one take, I unzipped her, and it literally looked like a bucket of water poured out of this jumpsuit. I was nervous that she would pass out," Stanley explained. "If you put a latex outfit on, you're immediately sweating, and I knew she was going to be dancing all day. The music video stylist remembered how much of a trooper Britney was in the skintight catsuit. and it was made overnight!Īs some fashionistas know, wearing latex is a commitment. Not long after that visit, the costume designer created the iconic red latex catsuit. "In world, everybody has to do everything in two minutes, so we knew he could pull it off. "It was a last-minute thing to go to him and see if he could make something for us," Stanley recalled of asking Bush for help. The two decided to enlist the help of Michael Bush, a costume designer who was working closely with the songstress in those days.īritney Spears' Major Moments in the Year 2000 However, Stanley explained that they both struggled to figure out an outfit that would take center stage and act as Britney's main statement piece.
